Fresh Music: Kirk Knight "Early Morning Hiatus"

Early Morning Hiatus was a 4/20 drop from the Pro Era member Kirk Knight. Kirk embodies the best of both worlds with being known as a producer and lyricist. For some reason I feel like he may be the sweet talker out of the group. Listening to this song I picture myself laying in a a field of Japanese Cherry Blossom trees.. (sigh) so peaceful. It really took me a few listens to get with the chorus, but I grew to appreciate it. I'm not sure if that's CJ on the echo portion of the chorus, but if so, kudos to the both of them for attempting to be vocalists haha. Overall, this track was put together beautifully. Throughout the song you will hear about life issues, balance, and imagining life through a different scope. It's said that he will be releasing his first mixtape soon, let's hope that's true because I'm excited to hear what he has up his sleeve. Until then, tune into your highest frequency and travel to the 5th dimension while listening to Early Morning Hiatus. Check it....

Fresh Music: Nolan The Ninja "That's When Ya Lost"

In the beginning of the song Nolan mentioned that he hasn't been in the lab in a minute, so that's something I don't need to mention lol. Though he hasn't I can't tell because he actually went pretty tough. I want to say he put out That's When Ya Lost on his birthday, which was a few days ago. When the beat drops, if you aren't familiar with the sound it's originally from Souls of Mischief's song, which was also titled That's When Ya Lost released back in 1992. I think it's ill how he twisted it and made it relate to his VVE crew.
Favorite line .."Style is complex, like the mag, who asked to get that a** kicked, givin' them lyrical a** whips". WOOOOOOOOOO!! Check it..

Here is the original version of That's When Ya Lost from Souls of Mischief

Fresh Music: Dice "Ridin" (Prod: Ace Boogie)

Just in time for the drop of his newest EP, Dice decided to give a little peek into what he's been up to. This joint is called Ridin' and was produced by Ace Boogie. After listening to it twice I realized he performed a snippet of it at one of the Pass The Mic events a while back. Anywho, I know this will sound very cliche, but this is definitely a song you can ride out to. Though Dice isn't where he wants to be just yet, he still keeps his vision in the forefront, and in the midst of all the bullsh*t he still enjoys life with his peoples! Don't forget his next EP The Jibreel Price Project is set to release on 5/11/13. Check it...

Fresh Video: Crack Killz Da G.O.D "Zooted"

Crack dropped some new visuals today, what a relief because it's been a minute. Zooted is the 14th track on his most recent project G.O.D Bless You.  I'm pretty sure this was released on 4/20, because if you listen to the lyrics it would make perfect sense. I'm not sure if there's still a debate as to whether or not cannabis is beneficial or not, but Crack's view on it is apparent and clearly stated throughout the song haha.. Check it!

Recap: 4/20 Beast Coastal Tour at Gramercy Theater

What better place for the Beast Coastal tour to end, other than in New York. Not only was it in New York, where all of the members of each crew resides, but it also coincided with the newest holiday on everyone's calendar, 4/20. With that being said, it was inevitable for the show to be sold out. I attended the performance earlier in the month when they stopped at the Crofoot Ballroom, which I thought was a crazy experience, but I'm sure the energy doesn't compare to this last show. Crowd surfing and and water guns.. need I say more? Check it...

SPIT Detroit Web Series: Episode 1

SPIT Detroit is a web series that gives hip-hop artists from the Detroit area a chance to show their free-styling skills. Each cypher contains 3 rappers and 2-3 beats that they rhyme over. Once "SPIT" is yelled by the host Row, it's time for the next artist to show what they got. This episode includes Roxwell, Mark Will, and D-Nice with DJ Bleek on the turntables.
Each artist had a line that stuck out to me..
Mike Will: "..wheels stay clean, candy paint Charlie Sheen, Codeine, rollin' slow when I pull up on the scene"
D Nice: "I just want the bread no jiffy, how you gettin' money if yo plug so iffy"
Roxwell:  "Like sour cream, sweat and sour, your boy tower, over n*ggas like a skyline.. I devour, competition by the second minute, even hour, pine box em' up, Fed ex.. I send flowers.
I won't spoil the rest for you, just check it out... SPIT!

Fresh Video: Soulcial Fabric at the H-Town Sneaker Summit

A while ago I did a post on Soulcial Fabric clothing line created by Khari Bernard. This year Khari and his crew were able to set up shop at the H-Town Sneaker Summit, which also coincided with NBA All-Star Weekend. H.U.S.H stands for "Hustle Until Something Happens", and it looks like they were definitely doing their thing while at the summit. Hip-Hop artists such as Asap Rocky and Teyana Taylor stopped through Houston to take a look at sneakers as well. Check it..

Not too long ago Pro Era took a trip overseas to do a few shows. This is actually the first "video" from their PEEP: The aPROcalypse mixtape, which was released some months ago. Get a little taste of their shows in Switzerland, Paris, along with other places as well. Looks like they had a good turnout at each show... check it!

Fresh Video: SPIT! Web-Cypher Series

SPIT! is a stage for hip-hop artists from Detroit to show off their free-styling ability while rapping over some hot beats. The web series is hosted by Row, and the turntables are run by Dj Bleek. Every Friday the cypher sessions will be posted here on the site for you to check out. Included in the post will be a spotlight on what artist I think had the best overall freestyle. I love seeing great things like this being created in the city of Detroit, and this is definitely something that I see growing. The video below contains more details on the web-series.... SPIT!
