Fresh Music: Pro Era (Dirty Sanchez, Dyemond Lewis, & Nick Caution) "Pro Cake$ 2"

Last year Pro Era dropped a track called Pro Cake$ in which the members rhymed over MF Doom's Hoe Cakes. This time around, they released Pro Cake$ 2 (which is obviously the sequel to Pro), only this time they are rapping over Drake's Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2 (feat. Jay-Z). I've heard a few remixes to this, but I think Dirty Sanchez, Dyemond Lewis, and Nyck Caution did the best job. Who's surprised Dirty Sanchez annihilated his verse? NOBODY. It honestly seems like Dirty never comes light. "My track list heavy metal like blacksmith, Black Sabbath, Black list, like Capone, Frontin' like I don't drop dope quotes".....yeah, so there's that. The one that surprised me was the Supa Slacka (Dyemond Lewis). I guess I'm just used to hearing him be super relaxed on songs, but this time he was really spitting. Nyck Caution concluded the track, and said a few raw things, with my favorite being "mami getting anal, get cho' a$$ f*cked".. HAHA. Check it...

Recap: 4/20 Beast Coastal Tour at Gramercy Theater

What better place for the Beast Coastal tour to end, other than in New York. Not only was it in New York, where all of the members of each crew resides, but it also coincided with the newest holiday on everyone's calendar, 4/20. With that being said, it was inevitable for the show to be sold out. I attended the performance earlier in the month when they stopped at the Crofoot Ballroom, which I thought was a crazy experience, but I'm sure the energy doesn't compare to this last show. Crowd surfing and and water guns.. need I say more? Check it...

Not too long ago Pro Era took a trip overseas to do a few shows. This is actually the first "video" from their PEEP: The aPROcalypse mixtape, which was released some months ago. Fresh Music: Dirty Sanchez, Capital STEEZ & Rokamouth "Maxwell" (Prod. DJ Black Diamond)

Pro Era week is in full effect, and the crew continues to release new records. On this drop Dirty Sanchez, Capital STEEZ (Rest in Power), and Rokamouth spit over a mix to Maxwell's Bad Habit track. I'm not surprised that they dominated the track the way they did. So far, the music dropped for Pro Era week has been pretty sexual... I like it. It was also really refreshing to hear them put a verse from STEEZ on here. Cover artwork done by Tony Wholigan once again, great. Can't wait to see what other things they have up their sleeve for Pro Era Week! Check it...

Pro Era Presents "Peep: The aPROcalypse"

With the rumors of the world ending today, why not drop an ill tape for us to listen to while the world crumbles? Finally we have it a mixtape from the entire Pro Era crew titled Peep: The aPROcalypse.

 Listening to this joint, you can tell the crew put a lot of time and effort into the entire project.  The Pro Era crew reversed the effects of the apocalypse with this one...

 Overall, this mixtape is grade "A" excellence, and was a great way to introduce some of the other members that we may not have heard much music from previously. They rhyme over a variety of beats, but still keep the bEAST coast vibe. Favorites include Like Water, F A Rap Critic, The Renaissance, Florists, Interlude 47, Vinyls, K.I.N.G.S., & Bun N Cheese.

Freestyle: Pro Era "How To Rap A Present"

Everyone knows how to wrap a present, but does everyone know how to RAP a present? Well, in this video a few members of the Pro Era crew teach us how to "Rap A Present". This track isn't really like anything i've heard from Young Veggies in the past and listening to it I get a jazz hip-hoppy (is that a word lol) feel. On black Friday, Pro Era member Capital STEEZ dropped a track titled Blakkk Krown featuring other Pro Era members such as Dirty Sanchez, Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly, Rokamouth, and Dessy Hinds. Though the track is just over 9 minutes long, everyone's verse is solid, which makes it perfect. Seems like every verse Steez creates is intellectual and makes you think a little deeper than usual. Fromdatomb$ featuring Chuck Strangers is the last video Joey will be dropping from his 1999 mixtape. They stuck with the 90's theme and created the old school VHS look, which is ill! Be on the lookout for the Pro Era tape, which is set to release on 12/21/12.

Pro Era Crew at Night Vision CMJ Showcase

Here is footage of the Pro Era crew at the Night Vision CMJ Showcase. On Twitter Joey referred to this video as the "Pro Era Tape Preview". The entire crew spit rhymes over multiple classic beats and ripped every one. 

The set release date for the Pro Era Tape is December 21st 2012.

Fresh Music: Joey Bada$$ "Home" (Prod: Chuck Strangers)

 

You know that show "If You Really Knew Me"? Well, I'm here to confess that if you really knew me, you'd know I listen to Joey Bada$$ everyday. I haven't heard anything from Joey since the 1999 mixtape, but he is back at it with a track called Home produced by Pro Era's own Chuck Strangers. Chuck has a tape releasing called "Free Bass" in which different artists from Pro Era will be rapping over beats produced by him. In this song, Joey mostly speaks about his traveling experiences, and finally being back home. At the end, he says "Somebody tell Hov I'm taking the throne".... pretty ambitious? Yes, but he definitely has time to reach for that goal..
